"Any given moment can change your life," she said, "You just have to be there."
Abba is very present in this journey, no doubt about that. It has already been a very emotional, exciting, and Spirit breathed road. Ever since April, He has opened and closed many doors. I have been beyond blessed to be in touch with the people I do. All of them are going out and spreading the Good News to all peoples and places.
Let me fill you in about each ministry I am considering for this year...
Uganda: First, I would be working in one of the prettiest countries ever. Filled with wild life, tribal music, and cute little Africa babies. I have been in contact with an organization called Amani Baby Cottage.
"Amani Baby Cottage was established in 2003 to provide care for orphaned and abandoned children. ABC is located in Jinja, Uganda near the shores of Lake Victoria. We can house up to 60 children ages birth to 5 years. Children are referred to us through the local authorities and the social welfare system. Many are orphaned when their parents die due to AIDS, birth complications or other factors. Some are abandoned in the hospital after birth. Others are found abandoned at taxi stops, in latrines, or on the street..."-ABC website.
I would be working with newborns to toddlers: reading to them (Dr. Seuss of course), taking them to go get ice cream, singing to them (I hope they don't mind jazz), laughing with them, tucking them in at night, changing diapers, and telling them in every way how much JESUS LOVES THEM.
Ukraine: I went to Ukraine on a mission trip with my Grandmother and brother at 16, and have never forgotten the people I met. What a moving trip that was! I would be working/living with the BEST couple ever. This couple are foster parents and currently have eight children living with them, and are always welcoming in more. I would be helping them out with daily life: homework, getting them to school, cleaning, cooking, and all the in-between. I would also be working with an organization that they partner with called Operation Mobilization (www.om.org), working with handicapped children, visiting orphanages...It would be like coming home.
Germany: If you know me well, you know I have thing about Germany. Everything about the country is wunderbar (wonderful). I was blessed to be able to go last August on a mission trip. I was with one of the best groups ever and spent my week with some incredible sisters in Christ and their children. On Monday, I was offered to go live in Berlin with a couple that has a ministry on the army base there. I would be working with middle and high school students on the base and spending much of my time with them. I would also be ministering in the area, etc. I'm going to meet this couple tomorrow to talk to them about this possible "open door." Will be sure to fill you all in :)
